The would be theme of the exhibition is
World-view of the Blankism Depicted as Extreme Reality by Cho, Sang-Hyun
This implied humanistic as well as naturalistic spirit flowing through the minds of the Koreans and the East is deep-rooted in the calm and steady tradition of Korean arts. And this is badly needed to all the people who are living in the post-industrial society. That's why I'm trying to introduce Blankism which is, I think suitable to this era.
In other words, Blankism as a way of expression extracted from Korean and Eastern tradition will supplement the potential problems inherent in the contemporary 21C. arts trends, insisting that Blankism should contribute to cope with these problems in a mutually developing way. This is done by works made by Extreme Reality of static landscapes normally encountered in nature, and easily understood by everyone all over the world.
Mr. Cho, Sang-Hyun has already initiated the Extreme Reality Works based on Eastern and Korean spirit since 1972. And in 1998, he declared the Blankism, which is the fruitful concentration of his works spirit.
I'm scheduled to cohold an Extreme Reality(or Hyper Realism) Exhibition with painters representing Korea and America such world famous Hyper Realism Painters as Chuck Close, Robert Cottingham, Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, Tom Blackwell, Robert Bechtle, Ron Kleemann etc. at Samsung Museum of Modern Art(run by no.1 conglomerate, Samsung) located in Seoul, KOrea from February to April 2001.
Hi, I have 49kinds of orginal lithographies based upon the spirit of the Blankism for oversens exhibition. The size is 36"x27"(4 kinds) and 33"x22"(12kinds), 22"x14.5"(6 kinds),9.5"x6.1"(25 kinds),7.5"x6.1"(2 Kinds). And also I have 17kinds of colored wood-cut based on Superrealism technique. The sizes vary from 10"x12" to 4"x4". The scarcity value is relatively high since edition numbers are from 15 to 50~70.
I think that it's not impossible but difficult to hold exhibition with the original paintings, cause it costs a lot and the displayed works are not sold well due to the high price of the original works compared to lithographies. In contrast, it's a less burden to exhibit high quality of lithographies. Taking a close look at the already-sent materials( book, catalogues, and my Internet Homepage, etc ), please let me know your opinion.
If you prefer exhibiton with the originals, either way is O.K.

조상현은 이미 1972년부터 한국과 동양적인 정신에 바탕을 둔 극사실 회화작업을 해오고 있으며, 이러한 작업의 전개과정에서 집약된 조형정신을 기본으로 한, 여백주의(Blankism)를 1998년 선언하여, 해외에서 큰 반향을 보이고 있습니다.
국내외 개인전을 위해, 여백주의 정신에 입각해 제작된 석판화 49종류가 있습니다. 크기는 91X65cm(4종류)와 84X54cm(12종류), 54x37cm(6종류), 24x15.5cm(25종류), 19x15.5cm(2종류)입니다. 또한 극사실 기법으로 제작된 다색목판화17종류가 있습니다. 그 크기는 60x44cm에서 10X10cm까지 다양합니다.
Edition Numbers는 15~70장이므로 매우 희소가치가 높은 판화작품입니다.
원화(Original Paingtings)로 개최되는 개인전은 비용이나 절차등,여러가지로 어려움이 따르며, 작품가격 또한 고가이므로 작품판매도 어렵습니다. 그러나 판화작품은 전시방법이나, 판매에 있어 여러가지로 편리하기 때문에 전시개최에도 전혀부담이 없으며, 전시내용도 매우 수준 높은 전시회가 될 것입니다.
여러측면에서 부담이 없으면서도 작품내용도 충실한 판화전시회를 적극 검토하여 주시길 바랍니다만, 원화전시회를 개최하길 원하신다면 그것 또한 가능합니다.
